Global supply chains are being redesigned for resilience, and China still sits at the center of the forging map. The question for buyers is no longer whether to source forgings from China — it is how to do it with confidence. This field guide covers where China stands, how 2026 procurement strategy is changing, and the verification steps that separate capable suppliers from cheap ones.

01 · China's Position on the Global Forging Map

China produces roughly 53% of the world's crude steel and holds about 28.4% of the global automotive steel forging market, within an Asia-Pacific region at 42.7% share (Future Market Report; CoreMetal). Scale is only half the story: the country offers a complete chain — die steels, forging, heat treatment, machining and surface finishing under one industrial ecosystem — a combination that industry analysts note would be difficult to replicate in the short term (Fastener World).

02 · 2026: From Cheapest Source to Resilient Partner

Post-pandemic procurement strategy has moved from "lowest price" to "managed risk". Dual sourcing is now standard practice: buyers keep domestic or regional suppliers for some volume and qualify a certified Chinese factory as a complementary source — not as a single point of failure, but as a reliable one. For forged parts, that means IATF 16949-certified plants with export history are increasingly treated as critical nodes in diversified supply chains. The question the market is asking Chinese suppliers has changed: beyond being cheap, what can you guarantee?

03 · The Buyer's Verification Checklist

Verification is cheaper than regret. The standard four-gate approach used by top OEMs starts with desktop screening: check the business license, certification scope and export history. IATF certificates must name the exact manufacturing site and cover forging — and can be verified online in minutes, because counterfeit certificates exist. Request batch-level documents: mill test certificates, EN 10204 3.1 inspection certificates, and FAI/PPAP packages for new parts. A genuine supplier will provide these within days; hesitation is a signal.

04 · What Export Experience Actually Tells You

Years of continuous export to demanding markets — the United States, Germany, Italy, Canada and Japan — tell you more than any brochure. It means the supplier has survived customer audits, mastered international drawing standards and packaging, navigated export compliance, and learned to communicate in the buyer's working language and time zone. Export experience is not a decoration; it is a capability that has been tested by real customers.

05 · A Supplier That Has Done This for Two Decades

At Nanjing Liju Precision Forging, exporting is not a new experiment. Founded in 1998 and covering 34,000 m² in Nanjing's Liuhe Economic Development Zone, the company has been shipping precision forgings to the United States, Germany, Italy, Canada and Japan since 2003, under ISO 9001, IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 certification. Its complete chain — 300T–1,600T friction screw presses, automated hot forging lines, cold forging, machining, CAD/CAM tooling and an in-house laboratory — supports automotive, railway, high-speed-rail, aviation (including parts supplied for Airbus programs), mining, hydraulic, forklift (Toyota and Crown projects), copper connector and aluminum forging programs.
